When a movie boasts of having a star cast comprising of James Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, Joe Pantoliano, Peter Stormare and more, atleast you are certain of seeing some decent acting. But this movie has a decent script too which is very surprising. Yes parts of the script has been ripped off from Reservoir Dogs and Memento but it is still pretty good.

When five people wake up and find themselves in an abandoned warehouse with drums of chemicals that caused temporary memory loss to them, and slowly, as they breathe more good air, they begin to get flashes of what happened to get them there and who they actually are. The plot line is thin and doesnt sound like it can hold its own but with a lot of twists and turns this movie serves its purpose which is to entertain you for 90 mins.

I didn't enjoy the ending of the movie though, it was a sell out for the studios. If the writer would have stuck to his guns he could have finished the movie in style but alas no balls.

Thanks for this, Kaytee.

For one reason or another, I've been putting off watching this one.

A shame because you've just made me realise that it's got three of my favourite actors: Jesus Caviezel, Barry Pepper and Greg Kinnear.

I just assigned a director's name to this movie in the title thread.

If you're not paying attention, the movie name's could be Unknown Brand.

Do you want this to be a new board policy, of putting the director's name in the subject title?

Unknown (2006)
IMDB Link

A bunch of crooks kidnap two people for ransom. They hold the victims in an abandoned warehouse, and some of them go out to collect the money, leaving the others to keep an eye on the victims. While away, the victims try to escape, fight starts, and a few gun shots and punches later, a cylinder falls, releasing a gas that causes everyone to pass away. When they wake up, they all realize that they have short term memory loss, and don’t know who they are, and what they are doing there. Also, they are locked in the warehouse with no way to get out.

This is actually where the movie starts, and we initially don’t know all the stuff that I spoilt in the first few stories and as the movie progresses we get a few clues to who they are. It is a great and fun idea, especially when they realize what the set-up is, but they don’t know who is the kidnappers are, and who are the victims, so there is a lot of mistrust going on. And if you don’t remember that you are a kidnapper, can you do good? What if you later remember, can you still continue doing good or do you have to go back to the initial plan?

The movie needed some more talent behind its production, either the director, the screenwriter, or the actors, to be able to pull it successfully off. There are a lot of weak parts, and after a good start, it slowly starts to go downhill.

Still, good debut effort from the director.
