I like watching football movies especially when it boasts of a huge and awesome star cast. But
Matthew McConaughey, Matthew Fox, David Strathairn and Ian McShane
all couldn't save this sob fest from being boring and uninspiring.
The film is trying to juggle itself by trying to be a hard-hitting human-based drama about people trying to overcome a loss and at the same time it tries to be a football movie which lacks awe-inspiring football scenes to make it a satisfactory sports film. Too much effort was put in to show th grief but none to show how they overcame the grief.
I would anyday prefer a
Gridiron Gang
over a
We Are Marshall
crap. Sad to see so many talented actors be a part of such a movie.

Admit it: a director with just three letters in his name cannot be (taken) serious.
P.S. Kaytee, given you're love of footbal movies, you need to start on Peter Berg's TV show. Like ASAP.

If it were all in the script, why make the film?
