FC is a movie that appeals to a certain generation.
I can understand that. It's great on the first viewing, but the films flaws are alot more noticeable on the 2nd viewing.
No flicks are flawless...

this thread has become a place for me to bitch and moan and i extremely apologize for this.but believe it or not guys, the movie is still not out in Bahrain, and what pisses me off is that i don't know what's the reason behind all of this.hell it even made it to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_Returns
that the movie still not out in bahrain.but it also mentions Kuwait and Qatar.iam not sure but think the movie was released in Kuwait and Qatar.
hmm i wonder if the reason behind all of this is Warner bros.
release this in bahrain already and i'll watch it dozen of times to make sure it passes $500 million! so i can make superman returns again!

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

It was released in Kuwait. I was unfortunate enough to go watch it as the cinema.

Warner Bros. has kept "Superman Returns" playing long enough that this past weekend it finally cracked the $200 million mark domestically and so the studio will move forward with a sequel.
The IESB has learned that Bryan Singer has finalized a deal to move forward with the sequel this past weekend and the studio is planning to start production sometime as early as next September with much of the same team behind "Returns". This would indicate shooting would probably begin early 2008 for a Summer 2009 release.
In a very smart move as well, the two big criticisms thrown against the film are being directly addressed - the budget and the lack of action & fun in the film. The action quotient will be strongly ramped up and a non-Lex DC villain looks like it will be the main villain of the piece.
In regards to the cost, 'Returns' had an official budget around $204-208 million, plus tens of millions in development costs over the years. No development costs this time around, and the production budget will be set at a perfectly sound $140-175 million.

Eh? It's ridiculous that movies nowadays have to cost this much...

Singer
signs on for the sequel
Quote
Helmer returns to the Man of Steel
Bryan Singer has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct and produce a sequel to "Superman Returns," with Legendary Pictures expected to co-finance.
Pic is tentatively intended for release in summer 2009, although the studio stressed that there's not even a script or budget yet.
Sequel is apparently at the very beginning of the development process and, as with any other project, there are any number of factors that must be addressed before it is greenlit.
Pact with Singer signals that Warners isn't ready to walk away from the iconic franchise -- or Singer --even though "Superman Returns," while grossing more than $390 million worldwide, wasn't the performer studio had hoped for.
Warners and Legendary say they will still turn a profit from "Superman Returns," with Singer inking his deal just as the film crossed $200 million at the domestic box office.
Insiders say Warners and Legendary are sure to insist that the sequel's production budget comes in under $200 million.
"Superman Returns" fell under endless scrutiny for its production budget, which the studio puts at $209 million after tax rebates and incentives. The number is much higher when factoring in more than $40 million in development costs -- "Superman Returns" was in the works for years --even though those costs were previously absorbed.
Critically, "Superman Returns" was disparaged for lacking in action. Singer has said he would address this concern in the follow-up.
In terms of casting, Warners has an option on "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh.
Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris penned the script for "Superman Returns" based on a story they created with Singer. It's not clear whether Dougherty and Harris will return for the sequel.
Legendary's involvement is key for the studio. Under the co-financing and co-production deal between the two, Legendary puts up half the money for films on which it's partnering.
Legendary is Warners' partner on the revived "Batman" franchise as well.

I'm hearing the "Superman" sequel has been postponed or cancelled. Supes has now been moved into the "Justice League" movie. For non-comic book fans, the Justice League has Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman as the key players, plus a couple of other low-tier freaks that are not worth mentioning.
Someone at MovieHole said something along the lines of "Batman is too big for the Justice League movie, and Superman could use some more popularity." Which makes sense because Nolan is in the throes of production on "The Dark Knight" and cannot be disturbed.
I find it ironical that the most recognisable of all superheroes, Superman, has fallen on such tough times -- he's having to play second-fiddle. And, you know what, thank God for that. I never liked Superman anyways. In our dark cynical times, the bright shiny idealism of the Man of Steel is worth as much as the paper I wipe my ass with. Batman, marry me!

Well, I've got some good news then!
Quote from: CHUD
The announcement that Tom Cruise is starring has teased more info about the project, which reteams Singer with The Usual Suspects screenwriter Chris McQuarrie. The movie is about a plot by German generals to knock off Adolf Hitler, and Cruise will play the head of the assassins. This really happened in WWII, and a bomb intended to kill Adolf came close enough to injure der Fuhrer. If McQuarrie’s script is based on factual events, there’s a good chance that Cruise will be playing Lt. Colonel Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, who made three attempts on Hitler’s life before getting the firing squad.
Cruise will be just one face in what is being described as an ensemble cast. The movie itself is supposed to be a return to cheaper filmmaking for Singer, who blew close to 300 million dollars having Superman pick stuff up last summer, but Cruise’s involvement would seem to make this movie about 20 million dollars more expensive than it originally was, unless the actor-cum-mogul is taking a pay cut.
The film will shoot this summer, which seems to sink any final hopes that Cruise will be available to play Ozymandias in Watchmen, which Zack Snyder is hoping to also get underway in the warm months.
A lot of good will come out of this. Singer will finally get to make a
real
film after "The Usual Suspects," McQuarrie could use a Hollywood rebirth (I love him) and Tom Cruise could possibly return to the glory of Frank TJ Mackey. Oh, and best of all: no more Superman sequels. Yay!

He couls still start Superman beginning next year, and release it in 2009 as originally planned. 2008 is Batman's anyway.

Considering they had to build two spaceships (one for the film crew) and travel to another star-system, not to mention the risk-associated cost, you just may be right.
