Someone should have a 'copy' soon, though I'm not too eager to try it. Reviews have been neutral with most commenting on how resource heavy the OS is. Basically its a souped up Windows XP, nothing more.

This is the age of Microsoft bashing. A lot of people wish the company would fail, and are being trigger-happy with criticisms.
I don't love or hate Microsoft. But I can recognise that it is an essential part of my life. My workstation and laptop run their OS, and this company has really revolutionised the way we function in society. This is not a comment on the posts made here, but rather the general perspective of people around the world.
It may just be more of an ideological thing where the same group of people would start frothing at the mouth for any announcement Apple makes...and then shift into let's-be-objective-and-analytical mode when it comes to Microsoft. I find this disparity fascinating...
There you go. I've made this into another Microsoft Vs. Apple debate now!

Ak...thats an age old debate, lets just say that the more the users, the more the criticisms and opportunities to discover loopholes.

I think it was unfair for people and the US who allege Microsoft about abusing its monopoly power and throwing them an
anti competitive law suit
. If they were the one's to first think of this and grow it at such a vast scale then it is tough luck to the others coz Bill Gates had the balls to do it and Apple or anyone else didnt. That lawsuit must have discouraged people around the world from making or inventing something that could have end up being a monoply product just coz it would result in law suits and government intrusions.

kaytee has a fine point. I'm pretty sure once the fever over how useful and noble Google is peters away, we may just witness yet another fall from grace. That's fucking life with fucking people who get jealous/anxious/scared of any kind of real greatness.
I agree with what Bowie's Tesla in "The Prestige" said about society allowing you only one major breakthrough at a time.

Kaytee...I don't think the anti-trust laws prevented MS from being innovative. If you get into the details of what they were trying to do it was very simple: by propogating the use of their technology and their platform they were forcing other vendors out of business. That is the same monopolising nature as our very own Etisalat. Microsoft Media players at one time for e.g. would not support Real player formats, even though Real would allow playing all MS formats. This kind of behaviour rightly got them in trouble. No one disputes that MS are good at what they do, their technology is generally very useful for the common person (even though it is not great), but its when they start behaving like the school yard bully that they incur the wrath of everyone.

You have point Fizz, But that lawsuit was started because of MS giving IE pre installed with Windows and thus Netscape Navigator was getting screwed. You could use NN on Windows but it was too tiresome and painful to download it or buy it when you were getting IE for free. That is pure business by MS.. If NN had the resources then they would have also launched there own OS with NN pre installed, no guts no glory.

Lol...I like the way you think man! Very ruthless.
For the sake of a Browser, an OS was lost!

P.S. I just watched 'Little Miss Sunshine' over the weekend, so I am compelled to quote:

The whole netscape debacle was stupid. If something is good, it survives.
Netscape never had much going for it anyway. But look, we now have firefox, which kicked IE's butt, and a lot of us use it.
