An intensely erotic Brazillian tale involving a love triangle between two life long friends, Deco and Naldinho, and a prostitute named Karrina. Deco and Naldinho, small time crooks and co-owners of an old boat, agree to give Karrina a ride to San Salvador in exchange for sex and a little money. She agrees. The friends pick straws, Naldinho wins and gets to be with Karrina first followed by Deco. As the story proceeds, their desire to posess Karrina grows beyond the 'deal' they had made earlier and eventually results in disaster. When she's not busy with her 'johns', Karrina takes turns having sex with either Naldinho or Deco.
Although sexually super charged, I found
Cidade Baixa to be emotionall empty. I felt absolutely nothing for the characters. Another issue I have with such films is that how the f*** are you supposed to concentrate on the story when you've got a boner right from the opening credits?!
