I had the shock of the day when I walked into building 12 of DIC and saw a banner up for a Roger waters performance in DMC on 21st Feb. I still can't get over the fact that he will be coming back to DXB, this after I missed him the first time a few years ago.

I'm not much of a concert guy, but the prospect of seeing this man's performance in the flesh is unmissible!

You are right...the tickets are pricy. Last time they were 175 AED, so this is a big price hike. But consider this, the man is 63. He could be dead in a decade or so (I hope not...but you never know), and we'll never get to see anything Pink Floyd live anyway.

Would you want to miss this:

Quote
The eagerly-awaited Roger Waters concert date will combine an evening of music –
comprised of two sets plus encores, with state-of-the-art staging, lighting and sound.

Set One will be a comprehensive overview of Waters' music including early Pink Floyd
material; classic compositions from the masterpiece "pb[The Wall[/b]"; beloved pieces from
"Animals," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Final Cut"; and songs from Waters' solo tour de force: "Amused To Death" and "The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking."

Set Two will consist of Roger Waters and his band performing "The Dark Side Of The
Moon
," one of the defining works of rock music history.

I'm not much of a concert guy, but this is very appealing. Who's going for this (despite that price tag)?

Ak...fuck the price...I'm definitely going for this. Its a once in a life time chance man, considering how visceral and awe inspiring and all emcompassing Pink Floyd/Roger Waters concerts are (I've seen the footage on VDO), it should be worth the money.

More about this tour:

Quote
Roger Waters toured Europe during the Summer of 2006 and North America in the fall for his The Dark Side Of The Moon Live Tour. As part of his performance he played a complete run-through of the 1973 Pink Floyd classic, The Dark Side Of The Moon, as the second half of the show. The first half was a mix of Floyd classics and Roger's solo material. Elaborate staging designed by Mark Fisher, complete with projections, and a full, 360 degree quadrophonic sound system were used. This new Waters' solo tour is expected to be as successful as his previous In the Flesh tour. His former Pink Floyd bandmate, Nick Mason joined Roger on some of the tour dates. Rick Wright was invited to participate on the tour as well but he declined the offer to work on solo projects. There is also a 2007 leg of the Tour, starting in January in Australia and going through Asia, Europe, South America, and finally North America in June.

Besides, there'll be at least 200 pot-bellied, middle-aged men ahead of you.

I saw a big-ass billboard of the Waters concert right in the middle of the Dubai Knowledge Village entrance R/A.

Really? The organizers have been surprising low key about the marketing behind this. It's almost getting by purely on word of mouth, which is not strange considering who this guy is. Come Feb 21st, the crowds (pot bellies and all..) will march to meet their saviour.
