Okay, I guess, its up to me to waste more of time, writing reviews. No one is doing much.
I tried to review albums once, and it was difficult, because how can you talk about an album? I don't even understand music that much, no matter how much I listen to it.
Although he has stopped updating, a great music reviewer is George Starostin.
http://starling.rinet.ru/music/index.htmThere is no way I can achieve what George achieves, because he can write so much about an album, while I can't seem to think of anything.
However, I want to challenge myself in writing about the albums I have.
One thing I am going to do is create a more complicated rating system. I have thought about this, and while it might seem strange, unnessary complicated, and fucking stupid, I want to try it out and see out it works.
Feel free to ignore,Album RatingFive different attributes will be attached to an album, all being graded from 4, including 0, and a half-numbers included.
Emotional Attachment: How much emotionally are you affected by the album? Does it make you sad? Happy? Depressed?
Accessibility: How easy it is get into the album? Some albums need a couple of listens for you to get used to it, so those get low grades. On the other hand, some are pop-friendy, catchy tunes, that you instantly understand on the first listen.
Complexity/Uniqueness: I can't think of a better term for this section. What I mean here is how complex the music is, uniqueness, breaking boundaries, or maybe even just doing something musically before anyone else.
Lyrics: The words of the song. They can be either really simple or very poetic. A good grading on lyrics could (but not necessarily) mean high grade for some other categories.
The average will be taken as the initial Rating.
That's it?
No, then we take it to the next moronic step. To ensure I grade it correctly, I have to consider that on average and in general the above average rating should apply to the individual songs. So, the rest of the songs will have default ratings of the above.
That is, if the above rating is 3.5, then I'll by default consider all the songs 3.5. If any songs that are far removed by that grade (to the nearest integral), then I'll mention it. So, if song X is 4, and song Y is 1, then I'll consider the rest 3.5 except those two.
Then we add all the songs up to get the average Songs Rating.
The songs rating will then be added to the album rating, and divided by two, to get the Final Album Rating!
What the fuck am I doing this for? Well, an experiment on my side, that's it.
