Being on google

How come my site sucks so much at google ranking? No keyword finds it, and only the main web site seems to be available. But other sites, including this one, has even the forum threads available in google.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you using search engine optimization (SEO). As much as you might think page ranking is based on popularity, click counts etc (it is to an extent), it is also determined by the effort you put into it to make it appear in people's searches. This is where SEO comes in - you specify the right keywords (which people can search with, eg 'Iran', 'movies' 'reviews') so that your page is part of the search result. SEO is now almost an exact science. Our very own AK (who does a great job on this site) can perhaps shed more light on this.

When there's a will there's a way. There's plenty of free material available online. Do your research, mad. I'm no expert at SEO -- and this topic is hardly something that can be explained in 7 steps -- but whatever I've learned so far has been through sheer, stupid trial-and-error.

Nah, I actually changed my mind, because I realize I did not WANT my site to pop up too often. Its better to be a niche site, that doenst attract to much attention.

Blog software nowadays are allowing the choice of not allowing your posts to be searched by search engine crawlers. So what mad says here makes total sense. Some people don't want to be found.
