For some reason, I've always liked Jason Lee. The last time I saw him, he was a supporting character on Vanilla Sky as he was on Cameron Crowe's previous venture, Almost Famous. He was (I think) the first guy to get killed off in Lawrence Kasdan's stinker Dreamcatcher. I also thought he played some of the most memorable characters on all Kevin Smith films - Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob, etc.

Anyways, after watching the first episode, I greedily consumed 9 more in two evenings! Lee plays the title character , Earl J. Hickey, a red neck crook who after an accidental meeting with 'karma', is out to right all the wrongs he has committed during his life. Armed with a list of over 200 acts of theft, unkindness, cruelty, humiliation and so on, Earl is accompanied with his 'simple' minded brother Randy and super sexy Mexican motel maid Catalina, as he sets out to confront all the people and tasks on his list. Oh, and then there's Earl's smokin' hot trailer trash ex-wife Joy, played by Jamie Presley. Whoever thought she could act?!

The outtakes featured during the closing credits of selected episodes are hilarious and demonstrate Lee's natural comedic talents. I'm looking forward to completing all of Season 1 by the end of the week!

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I have finished the first season and currently watching the second season. For some reason I like Randy's character much more than Earl. But all the characters on the show are lovable right from the trailer trash talker Joy to the hottie Catalina and even the always high Crabman.

I agree with you on Jason Lee, too bad he couldnt make it to the big leagues in the movie business, but My Name is Earl has become a cult show which suprisingly a lot of celebs follow too.

I think we need a legendary "Battle of the Hotties" between Earl's Jamie Presley (Joy) and Nadine Velazquez (Catalina)!!!

My vote goes to Jamie Presley by default of course! Grin

You gotta be kidding me Capt. Anyday I will pick the Mexican Chica. You have to see the episode where she does a pole dance.

OK, I'm done with Season 1, all 24 episodes. Even though the writers were unable to maintain a consistency when it came to quality, I must say that I enjoyed this show throughly. Jason Lee is excellent as Earl. For some reason he looks physically sick and exhausted towards the last few episodes. I'll wait till Season 2 completes at least 12 episodes before I start watching it.

Nope. I'm sticking with Miss Presley. Hmm... I think I need to download Poison Ivy: The New Seduction... Grin
