Didn't know about this at all. Nice one, Capt.

So now they have exclusive R-rated comic book covers too. Since there's very little difference between them, I think its a marketing gimmick.

I might pick up the tbp when it comes out.

Different covers aren't new to comic books, though how you can rate something that anyone can see in its entirety is beyond comprehension! The regular Spiderman series launched in the early 90's had about 8 different covers and I've known maniacs who boughts all of them including the super rare platinum one (yes, metals were used to sell comics in those days...).

It's a little like all the different artworks for DVD covers.

I know what you're saying, Fizz. Different artworks are OK; I understand they are meant either to please fans or to make money. This practice is the bedrock of the DVD marketing now.

My point was New Line’s blatant attempt at differentiating between two *similar* artworks using just an undervest and the entrails of an underwear. Slapping an R-rated sign for - what I assume is - a web exclusive reeks of cheap marketing. I would have appreciated the gesture if it were genuine. (It isn't.)

Ak...I was making the same point. How effective is an R-rating for a cover when you can see it even if you didn't want to or were trying to avoid it? Its silly.
