One of the two Diwali/Eid releases in Bollywood, this is a movie that I am looking forward to more than Don. Considering the biggest holiday in India (akin to 4th July in USA), both movies could do well. What makes me glad is that it is not being touted as a Khan vs Khan match, but an anticipation of Good times for Bollywood Box Office.

About the movie: Love triangle between Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar & Preity Zinta.
Producer: Sajid Nadiadwala (Big Money, BIG Presentation)
Director, Story, Screenplay, Editor: Shirish Kunder (Choreographer Farah Khan's spouse)
Music Director:   Anu Malik
Lyricist :    Gulzar
Choreographer: Farah Khan
Official Web Site :    http://www.jaanemann.com

There are a few (ok, many) detractors of the soundtrack, but I for one love two songs of this movie:
- "Ajnabi Shehar": I rate this as one of Sonu Nigam's best ever. It is also Anu Malik's silent tribute to his idol and his lyricist's favourite collaborator (R D Burman)
- "Jane ke Jane Na" - a total fun & masti number with Sonu Nigam & Sukhwinder Singh doing ample justice to Gulzar's awesome Hinglish lyrics.

I've seen only one early promo till now, and intend to keep it that way until I see the movie in entirety. Soon.

I liked the way the movie is shot, Farah Khan' husband is directing, and the look is excellent... I am looking forward to it...

I saw it... I still cant make up my mind on it... what was I watching? A broadway show? A Musical skit?

I liked bits of it of course, technically the movie is superb. But I felt the emotions and acting got lost in the larger than life - spectacular sets, editing and picturization. Like one of my friends said 'its the editor in him thats showing, not the director' (for Shirish Khunder). Also, I think the choreography (by his wife Farah Khan) was stunning, but everything seemed too big... too grand... I got too overwhelmed I guess...

The story was different... havent seen this approach to promoting love before in hindi movies ;-)

I guess I will remain undecided about this movie, I cant give it a rating :-(

Akshay Kumar's laughter is a national rage (By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 27, 2006 - 02:26 IST)

Jaan-E-Mann has left its audiences spellbound. Not only are the audiences loving the movie, but are watching it over and over again. Everything about the movie seems perfect, be it Salman’s emotional act or Preity’s fashion sense or Anupam Kher’s comic timing. But it is Akshay’s laughter that is catching the eye of one and all.

Akshay’s laughter is creating ripples all over India as people love the way he laughs in the film. Akshay has played the nerd to the T. His portrayal is perfect as it has succeeded in drawing crowds to full houses in cinema halls. Salman too is revelation in the film. Probably one of Salman’s best roles of his career! Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar compliment each other in two contrasting roles so perfectly, that you just sit and enjoy the movie in the awe of the two stars.

Well, with the kind of response and audience feedback the movie is getting, it is now right to say that Jaan-E-Mann is one of the better made films of the year. And if in case you have not seen the movie, we recommend you to watch this one NOW.

no, man. I just can't... I'd rather watch DON.

Jaan-E-Mann has hit back strongly. As expected, post Eid the collections of Jaan-E-Mann have gone up. The advance booking report for the second week are very positive. Well Jaan-E-Mann was steady all this week till Eid but post Eid it is a completely different story. Jaan-E-Mann can safely be declared as a hit now.

Akshay Kumar feels that Jaan-E-Mann is amongst his best works ever. “ Jaan-E-Mann will take Indian cinema to a completely different level” says Akshay Kumar. He also says “Salman and I made you laugh in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and this time in Jaan-E-Mann will make you cry”.

Sajid Nadiadwala feels that this movie will entertain as this movie is targeted on the family audience. It is the story of relationships with strong emotional values. It is not a movie on divorces or extra-marital affairs as is the current trend. It is not stereotypical. And yes the families have responded well. The collections of Jaan-E-Mann are astonishing. It has collected huge revenues from just the Mumbai territory. The revenues worldwide are phenomenal too.

Jaan-E-Mann has found a lot of favor from the audiences and the thing they liked the most about the movie is Akshay Kumar, his laughter, Salman Khan and Anupam Kher.

Well Jaan-E-Mann, the way it has picked up was expected but not so late. It is rarely seen that a movie picks up from the second week onwards. The advance booking at cinema halls are packed. Jaan-E-Mann definitely deserves this. To substantiate our claims, there was a huge procession in Meerut amongst Salman fans who walked almost 5 kms to watch the movie. They gathered in hundreds.

Jaan-e-mann, in my opinion, is a story beautifully told. The story is nuthin new, but its the treatment tat gets full marks. The presentation is completely original n refreshing.. n compared to DON, is a much better movie worth repeated viewings... atleast for me  Grin

shreq, ure way too partial to salman khan - probably as much as i'm biased against him Cheesy
that's the only reason i can think of for you to give a 4/5. i wouldn't give this movie a 2.5 out of 5 and no more. I can't believe people can't recognize the number of rip offs from english films - old and new.

- The nerd in college look - Ryan Reynolds in "just friends" (i'm surprised Akshay kumar didn't put on a fat suit)
- The Salman khan song number in the beginning trying to get a job in bollywood - Gene kelly's "gotta dance" number from "Singing in the rain" with the amazing Cyd Charise
- Salman Khan getting over his ego and getting a proper job to win his wife an child - Missus Doubtfire
SPOLER:
- Akshay kumar finding a look alike of the girl he couldn't have - Bedazzled

And last but not least - bollywood has gone cannibalistic - Sallu helping Akshay win the girl HE loves is straight out of "Kal ho na ho" (watching that Time square scene in New york and priety were just too much. Smack a pair of glasses and trench coat on her, and it's a flash back to that karan Johar puddle of puke)

Ok - the ONLY thing fresh about this movie... the comic lines, the cinematography (unless i haven't seen the source they've copied it from) but it was what made us endure the long, dragged out movie this was. and i will agree with one thing shreq said - Akshay kumar has street cred... or sorts...
he's improved his screen presence and it shows... though he still does the goofy smile and laugh (which is kind of funny) pretty well.

Oh c'mon kaytee, I ain't the only one. Most of the reviews of this movie are good! It's only the opening Box Office results that were not stellar.

Your theory works the other way too - your rating has to only be for your bias against him. I shall stick to my 4/5, thank you very much.

Thanks for the positive vote, Shah. I've watched it a second time, and it is as awesome as it was first time 'round.

I have finally arrived at an opinion for Jaan-E-Mann

Its a new approach to film making. Its spectacular, larger than life view was refreshing... It was entertaining throughout, didnt move sluggishly and was fun to watch...
