The Infidel (Josh Appignanesi, 2010)

A comedy about a Muslim who finds out he was adapted and had Jewish parents. I think something like this could only be made in the west. Not because of freedom of speech and tolerance and all that, but because only in the west would people actually care about something like that. I don't think any Muslim would care that his biological parents used to be Jewish.

But the movie is set in the west, so it's possible Muslims there care more about imagined racial differences. I'm guessing the filmmakers are Jewish, I'm not sure, but the names Josh Appignanesi and David Baddiel sound Jewish. The reason I mention this is because most of the jokes about Jews, that supposedly are Jewish stereotypes about Jews (made by the Muslim) is only something Jews seem to know. Most of the jokes and comments that the Muslim was making about the Jews, I had to explain to my wife, because I figured she wouldn't get it because she isn't as familiar with western pop culture as I am.

I have mentioned the words Muslims and Jews so many times in this review, that I bet it has been flagged by many different secret search engine organizations…Let me just drop in another word to make it more noticeable to them. Bombs.

3/5
