Charlize Theron has some interesting projects lined up...This also has Fassbender, the original Elizabeth Slander, and Stringer Bell.

The cast looks brilliant; a prequel to Alien, wow.

The trailer releases on Thursday, 22nd Dec.

This is one of the movies I am most looking forward to in 2012. Ridley Scott doing Sci-Fi is just so darn exciting. His recent form as a director hasn't been so good, but I just hope the genre brings the best out of him (like in Blade Runner and Alien).

Forget DARK KNIGHT RISES. PROMETHEUS is the *movie event* of 2012 for me! It oozes with retro-cool style and Scott's passion!

(And not a single frame of American Football or a single note of the Star Spangled Banner! Nolan, you embarrass yourself. Learn from your English godfather, Ridley Scott!).

"The film was originally intended as a direct prequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien. However, the events of the film will not precede any of the previously established characters or story lines from the Alien franchise."

This is obviously a marketing strategy which i don't like at all...they don't want you to think this is another unnecessary prequel or sequel or remake or a spin off. They don't want to label this anything and by this way they think they will succeed.it's more like " oy! you right there! if you liked the Alien movies, this movie is for you but we don't wanna piss you off, this is not a remake or a sequel or any of the bad words you don't like and if you didn't wanna watch it, then that's fine we will sell the movie for teenage boys who are not familiar with the Alien movies or for the ppl who are not aware this is related to the Alien movies, how they will know it's related to the Alien movies? hence it's called Prometheus or whatever" same thing goes to the new Blade Runner movie..

written by the writer of Cowboys & Aliens...

Part of many unnecessary cash-in horrible franchises which run out of steam which will ruin 2012 for the rest of us..

directed by the most boring director of all time...

only Christopher Nolan can save this franchise  Roll Eyes

Prometheus is set in the same universe as the Alien movies. But since it does *not* contain any of the Xenopmorphs/Alien monsters of those 4 movies, it isn't being called Alien -1 or Alien: The Beginning, which makes obvious sense.

Why is it the same universe as the Alien movies then? Because the connection is the same space-future technology and mentality of the humans, as well as more information on the Space Jockey: The giant being that was in the space-ship encountered by the crew in the first Alien movie. How the Xenomorph got in that space-ship, and what is its history may be alluded to in this movie, but it is not *about* it.

As good as any reason to watch a movie - except if one likes movies only if the director's name starts with a Fin, ends with a Her and has a C somewhere in between.

Oooooh! Looks excellent! Music, visuals, mood.

I like how the title revelation is a nod to but distinctly different from Alien.

Also, this is another trailer way better than TDKR's trailer.
