his previous films were beautifully shot, why does this look like it was shot with a handycam?

The DP is the same: Eric Steelberg. They're going for the "this is real life" look. I think it works, kinda. Plus, shot on a digital cinema camera, the Arri Alexa (which was put to great use in DRIVE by cinematographer Newton Thomas Siegel).

On another note, Charlize Theron is the new Michelle Pfieffer. Ages like good wine.

Dude, she's only 36. Technically she's still grape juice. Let's wait till she's at least 45 and then grade her on the Pfeiffer Scale™.

While That is true, Theron has always looked too mature even in her early 20's, may be it was her supermodel body played to that. On the other hand Pfeiffer in her 30's, 40's, all the way to her 50's looked better than when she was in her 20's.
