This Immortal (Roger Zelazny, 1966)

It took time to get into "This Immortal". It is the future, earth has been more or less destroyed, and most have immigrated to an alien planet owned by Vegans. The Vegans are a superior race and, while they seem to try to treat the humans as best as they can, it does seem to be a human-pet relationship. Earth has been reduced to tiny population and Vegan tourists that enjoy Earth's history.

Conrad, due to a strange mutation, is somewhat immortal, staying young and health for more than hour years. He keeps this fact secret and as a high official in the government, is asked to occupy a Vegan writer to Earth as a travel guide. They are joined by several other Earthmen, and they face adventures! Conflict! Drama! Danger! and secrets about each other. Once I could get into the book, I enjoyed it as being an easy read, but it does not have much flesh to it. A little bit unmemorable.
