The Renaissance
(Q-Tip, 2008)
Not a rap fan, but "The Renaissance" is reasonably listenable for me. Obviously, there has been a lot of effort put into this album, as most songs do sound unique in itself, something rap does not generally do to a non-rap fan, because to us, all rap sounds the same. Like how my friends think all rock sounds the same.
But no matter how good a rap album is, it still feels like I am swimming against the current. Once I stop paying attention, the water moves me away from my destination, back to where I started, and I realize I'm not even listening to the album anymore.
