TEJA mein hoon, Mark idhar hai !!

A film about how news is made and the people working behind the face of the news. Ever wonder how Wolf Blitzer or Barkha Dutt pull off live news. Broadcast News shows us how its done and much more. Obviously being a James L Brooks film there has to be a mature romance as a center piece.

I dont think workplace romance ever works unless you are ready to kiss your career goodbye. Broadcast News stars William Hurt as a new reporter hired as a backup to their lead anchor Jack Nicholson. Producing the news is the delightful Holly Hunter who makes the role her own and in a supporting cast is Albert Brooks playing a correspondent striving hard to be an anchor. Its your typical love triangle but the difference is the acting from all 3 leads which earned them all Oscar nominations. Holly Hunter deserved the win only to lose out to Cher for Moonstruck (yes shit happened back then as well).

While watching Broadcast News i kept thinking of Sports Night (the Aaron Sorkin TV show) which had a similar premise but lasted for 2 seasons rather than 2 hours. I loved that show and I certainly liked this film too but without Holly Hunter this would not have survived. Watch it for her.

3.5/5

Narrative is the poison of cinema...There’s nothing more beautiful than elusiveness in cinema.
