and who said Gosling's character is experienced? he is clearly a rookie but smart one.

He says it himself in the movie while talking to ex mrs Marilyn Manson.

i don't remember what he said but at least he is not as experienced as let's say PSH character or Paul Giamati character.plus, the first phone call between Ryan and Paul showed that they know each other, didn't it? meaning, they are friends and friends meet regardless of who they work for...right?  Grin

the problem is not that he met Paul, the problem is that he met Paul but didn't tell PSH that he was going to...
