The Descendants, like so many mediocre movies, has an idea but nothing else. The basic premise might have seemed interesting enough on paper or discussion, but it has nothing to elevate it to a good movie: neither a story, nor characters and not even treatment. What we get instead of a movie, is a situation. No thanks, I'll take the fast-forward button.

I was honestly surprised that the characters were such caricatures. Where is the writer/director who gave us Sideways? Why are the performances of the actors doing bit-parts so atrocious? And what the fuck is the douchebag Sid in the movie for? And this is the movie sweeping awards over such deserving movies.

Right on the money, you guys. This film sucks.

Clooney got a Golden Globe for this? I guess they'll do ANYTHING to avoid giving hm a director's award, especially that he's got a knack of being nominated to that plus some other category in the same awards show.
