To get the ball rolling, and most importantly, so we get the chance to catch what we've missed from each other's lists.

don't bee fooled by the buzz around "The Kids Are All Right ", it's not bad but it's not great either.it's just your typical GAY movie with your typical gay angry annoying white ppl.
but it's worth watching for the cast alone.if you notice, in the last ten year...this time of the year we get many dramedies oscar whores but this year it's very rare which made The Kids Are All Right get more recognition too.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

Guys,
Sylvain Chomet's THE ILLUSIONIST just came out in limited release here in LA. Based on an unproduced script by the wonderful Jacques Tati.
Just added it to my 2010 watch list. You should too.

I almost picked it up, but then dropped it because I didn't expect too much from it, considering it's an animated film. But I'll take your recommendation. Plus, it's only 90mins!

The Illusionist
will be a very difficult film to get a hold of. It will obviously never play here and I've not had any success so far in acquiring it.

yes THE ILLUSIONIST is a must...don't expect it anywhere anytime soon as the UK DVD will be released in FEB and SONY just released in cinemas in the US a few weeks ago...it looks amazing.
anyways, this might help you out to add more to your wish list!

Gentlemen, shall we set ourselves a time-frame? Can we finalize a list by 10
th
Jan? If we haven't watched some 2010 films by then, so be it. Let's get the list ready and out before 2010 becomes old news.

Yes, it would be good to release WM's Best/Overrated List when the Oscar nominations come out. (1) It buys us more time to finish our viewings; (2) People will be primed to pay more attention to our selections, since everybody will be in "critic mode."
Oscar 2011 nominations are announced Jan 25. Shariq, how about Jan 21 for WM's submission deadline? We spend the remaining days compiling and writing the article, then release it on Jan 25...or perhaps a day before on Jan 24?
