Ak, sorry, no pics. The setup of ADFF at Marina Mall was pretty lame - there was no buzz or aura. It was like going to City centre to watch a film, nothing like DIFF. Perhaps it might have been different at the prime venue (Emirates Palace), but we had no screenings there unfortunately. Also, none of  the makers of the 2 films we saw showed up (Romanek, who we would have punched, or Kiarostami, who we would have embraced) so no QA either.

About the films - Never Let me Go was infuriating, almost making us question why we made the trip, but the beautiful, sensual, mysterious Certified Copy was a winner in our book! More thoughts on their individual threads, but overall, we were very glad we went.

Oh yes, the place looked like the setting for a high-school project. But to the festival's credit, both the screenings were close-to-full, with stand-by queues too.

Certified Copy made the long planning, the anticipation and the drive worth it.

Thanks for the update, guys. I am waiting for CERTIFIED COPY to arrive in LA. One small consolation is that Assayas' 5-hour epic CARLOS is opening in exclusive engagement this weekend at the famous Egyptian Theater, and he will be attendance. Going for that.
