This movie intrigues me. Reason being the people behind it. I'm liking the cast being assembled, and that the director is Rupert Wyatt, he of The Escapist.

Premise: Set in present day San Francisco, Caesar: Rise of the Apes is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Weta Digital will render photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors. Of course, they have their experience from rendering King Kong, and fittingly, Andy Serkis will provide the motion-capture for the leader of the Apes, Ceasar.

The movie also stars James Franco, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton & unfortunately Freida Pinto.

Release Date: June 24, 2011 (US)

Why is it unfortunate? Is it her acting? She's okay; of course not as good as Hema Malini, but still...

The title is longer and sillier now, but this 4-second shot looks fantastic.

I'm betting on the director (and the excellent CGI apes) to pull it off. But none of the trailers look any promising.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher
