HBO might have another gem in store for us, this time Martin Scorcese is behind it and Steve Buscemi is starring. The promos look interesting and the production looks grand. Keep an eye out for this.

I have just finished watching the 75-minute pilot episode, directed by Scorcese (who will also serve as exec producer on the series). I feel I've just watched a very long preview of a top quality feature film. This is 5-star material in every sense of the word. Steve Buscemi, in a rare lead role as corrupt politician Nucky Thompson, is absolutely mesmerising. The rest of the major cast add to the brilliance, and the superb set and period costume design are of the highest quality you'll see on TV. Scorcese's camerawork and editing is exactly what you'd expect from one of cinema's great legends, and as such the final package is a great work of TV that goes one step further to blur the line between small and big screen productions. Finally, as if the show needed any more indications of greatness, the creator is none other than Emmy award-winning writer Terence Winter, who served as chief writer on
The Sopranos
, and wrote the most number of episodes on that show after creator David Chase.
In short, this is TV work of the highest calibre. Highly recommended!

I just watched the pilot episode, and it is as Oddy said, simply a must watch TV! Stellar cast, great premise, story and production values, and direction makes you forget that you are watching TV. A big winner!
