Vishal Bhardwaj's next, previously titled "Seven" and then "Ek Batta Saat", is Saat Khoon Maaf [Seven Murders Forgiven].

The movie is based on a 4-page short-story "Susanna’s Seven Husbands" by Ruskin Bond (whose Blue Umbrella Vishal has previously adapted). The author himself has fleshed out the story into a 200-page "episodic piece" that the director has adapted into a screenplay for his movie.

Priyanka Chopra plays the protagonist, a femme fatale who bumps off her seven husbands. The seven husbands have been cast, but not confirmed in news by Vishal or the producers yet. Confirmed though are 4 of the 7 husbands: Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh. One more will be a little-known western actor. The last two could be from among Mohanlal, Annu Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Vivaan Shah (Naseer's younger son).

Oh, Production already started! I thought they were still doing readings, etc. It is possible we get the movie this year itself then, no official release date yet though.

It had me at Vishal Bhardwaj. This guy is the only director in Bollywood that I would not skip a film of his, even as he relying lately on the "talent" of Ms. Chopra .

The trailer's too low res to make out much, but looks... interesting. That song though - very cool!
