By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

If Mad needs to defend Doubt, I think he is perfectly capable of it. Besides, if someone posts their list, it is open to praise or brickbat. Lastly, if critics and the majority of critics like the movie, that doesn't mean it is quality: they could be wrong; we could be wrong too; and that's therein lies the debate and fun!

It is not defending Mad per se that I am terribly concerned with, as you said he is more than capable of doing a better job with that, and there is not really anything in it for me, I don't align myself with him critically and more often than not we disagree when it comes to films. But what I grew to respect is how he express his opinions with a witty, expressive and out of the box way. What I was bothered by is the collective dismissive attitude for having the film on the list. Asking why he has it there without referring to his review, and acknowledging that perhaps the guy is into something here.

I liked the part where you did say: "we could be wrong too", I just wish that you believe it when you say it AK.

I removed "Tropic Thunder, Wanted, Rambo 4, Doomsday" for Fizz's 2008 rule, and I wont disagree. I removed "Doubt", because it doesnt bother me for it not to be in the top list. I also removed "Hangover" and "A Prophet" for the same reason. Made it leaner and meaner.

Did we include "The Chaser" in the list last year?

Also, animatedude, I removed "Rambo 4" for Fizz' 2008 rule, but try to think of a better war-action film from the last decade? It was a barrage of bullets and blood, Stallone at his best, and the duration of the film was perfect, never overstaying its welcome.

Mad, half your questions can be answered if you take a look at your Top 10 for last year. It already has (either in the Top 10 or honourable mentions) Rambo 4, The Chaser, The Good the Bad the Weird, Tropic Thunder, Phoebe in Wonderland, In Bruges. I thought this year was a bad movie watching year just for me, but I can now see I'm in good company.

P.S. Next year, use Excel to track your viewing (it REALLY helps).

P.P.S. You also already considered Doomsday, Doubt, Man on wire, Wanted last year and it didn't make the cut.

Okay, cleaned my list again, removed those, plus removed "The the Right One in".

Others I removed:
Departures: Obviously 2008
The Wackness: Obviously 2008

Did you just read Mad's latest posts?

I liked the part where you did say: "we could be wrong too", I just wish that you believe it when you say it AK.

I knew you would like that part; that is why I included it. As for if I believe if "we could be wrong too": I believe *we* could be wrong. I believe that, yes, absolutely. But *I* can never be wrong! You must believe me!

Jan has ended, so it's a good enough time now to complete the Best of 2009 list. Most of us have working lists in the *other* thread. Please clean them up and finalize them. Those that haven't put up a list (Fizz, animatedude), kindly put up yours.
