http://www.youtube.com/v/qqG_H2_Yuyc&rel=1"My name is Michael Westen, I used to be a spy. Let me tell you a story: When a spy gets fired, they cut him off. They burn him. When you're burned, you've got nothing. No cash, no credit, no job history; you're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in. You do whatever work comes your way and you rely on anyone who is still talking to you: a trigger happy ex-girlfriend, an old friend who used to inform on you to the FBI, family too (if you're desperate). Bottom line, until you figure out who burned you, you're not going anywhere. You learn to live with the idea of people wanting you dead. Still, getting blown up isn't something you get used to"Burn Notice as a show is a lots of fun! It has the 80s sensibility but for the new millennium. It is MacGyver meets Moonlighting meets I-Spy.
This show now is one of the biggest hits on basic-cable networks, probably the biggest. It is staring Jeffery Donavan, who played the detective in last year's
The Changeling. On this show, he is Michael Westen the ex-spy who wants to discover the truth behind his burn notice with the help of his friend Sam, played by the great Bruce Campbell, and ex-girlfriend Fiona played by Gabrielle Anwar in a role that rekindled her career, and reinvented her persona. She is lots of fun as the badass trigger-happy chick.
Every episode Michael helps a client or more out of a dire situation with a mob, an evil corporation, or the law. Sometimes he does it to get by, and sometimes out of the kindness his heart. Meanwhile he is working on unraveling the bigger mystery of Burn Notice.
Burn Notice is heavy on voice-over, which is a turn off for some people, and it features clever use for subtitle cards, which introduce clients or opponents. It is set in Miami, so you can consider it along with Dexter the good Miami shows in contrast with the crappy CSI Miami. It features quick thinking, lots of improvising, and witty dialogue. It seems that the actors are having so much fun and it reflects on the end result.
This show just started its third season. It is in-line with the two other popular USA Network shows,
Monk and
Psyche, enjoyable, laidback, and a blast all around. It is
