Look at life and films, differently...

« on: June 08, 2009, 10:53:AM »

I was shocked to see there was no thread for this landmark show! I am total F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fan!
Set in New York, this show follows the lives of six friends:

Monica - Courtney Cox Arquette
Rachel - Jennifer Aniston
Phoebe - Lisa Kudrow
Joey - Matt Le Blanc
Chandler - Mathew Perry
Ross - David Schwimmer

Six young people, on their own and struggling to survive in the real world, find the companionship, comfort and support they get from each other to be the perfect antidote to the pressures of life!

A lot of pop culture was born out of this show... The famous Central Perk Cafe, with the massive couch. The apartments the friends shared in New York. The song by Rembrandts, 'I'll be there for you', their hair styles, style of talking, etc all became a rage from 1994 - 2003. Attitudes towards dating, marriage, sexual orientation, parenting, were all part of this show which became part of the weekly schedules of millions of fans around the world.

I've seen the odd episode, never felt like following the show then. I sometimes am explained the "in-jokes" by fans of the series, but really, doesn't bother me. I'm happy knowing that I don't know all episodes of all 10 seasons.

Well Sandeep, I was not into the Friends frenzy early on, but I can see why it was and still is very popular. It was a cute show with simple stories and beautiful young people playing house. Everyone of us could relate to aspects of their lives, it was often light hearted and rarely dealt with heavy stuff, and above it all it was funny. It is also rewatchable, it is not Seinfeld but still it holds up very well in rerun.

My favorite two friends are Chandler, and Phoebe, something about his sarcasm and her quirk always gets to me. My least favorite is Ross, and I really don't why because he is a geek and I would like to think of myself as one too.

By the way, have anyone of you visited the Central Perk Cafe in Jumairah? It is a cute little place, the service and the drinks are good, and surprisingly not pricey at all.

I know people of this forum absolutelu hate this show but I enjoyed it till it lasted. It was funny, the people on the show looked like they enjoyed working on the show thus a lot of it was improv. This and Seinfeld are two shows you can watch anytime, anywhere.

Same here. I might have watched 10 to 20 episodes altogether. My fav would be the one with Brad Pitt.

I watched every single episode and also the Joey spinoff, and I would give it a good 3/5.

I don't hate the show...I've seen nearly every episode myself. It was good entertainment, I won't deny it.

I've watched every episode too. More than once. Doesn't get tiring easily, like Tom and Jerry. Didn't like Joey spinoff at all though.

Wow! Comparing FRIENDS to the legendary Tom & Jerry borders on blasphemy.

Plus, one can't fucking help not watching this show. At any given moment of the day, there has to be at least one channel somewhere playing a rerun.
