The game, on the other hand, is a legened.
Doom
, the game, is awesome! My college years were marred with hours of obsessive compulsive playing
Doom
,
Duke Nukem
, and the original
Need4Speed
. But you gotta admit that
Doom
is a headache inducing game, with all those doors opening and closing.
But alas those times are long gone. Now I am only obsessed with
Spider Solitaire
and the occasional
Sudoku
puzzle.

All the games that I played too! And
Mortal Kombat II
.
And no, never a headache from
Doom
.

Yes, but flawed - in that it was well made, extremely detailed, but not at all addicitve. That can be a very big flaw in games. I never bothered playing it beyond the first 4 levels. I say just bring in more "official" episodes of
DOOM II
, and people are going to be hooked again.

True. Problem with most games these days is the emphasis on graphics...at the expense of gameplay. Take Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars for instance. It almost looks real, but playability isn't as good CNC Generals/Zero Hour or Red Alert 2.

Quake 3 was a benchmark for a LONG time, it was excellent, addictive, and fun. Quake 4 was ultra boring!

Sammy, I'm with you, there hasn't been any game quite like CS since well, CS. The adrenaline rush of the multi player stages (that don't last hours!) is always exhiliarting.

I loved playing Quake and the first Doom, especially after you put in the cheat codes which allowed you to through walls and have full ammo. Miss those days...
