So, I want to buy the Star Wars movies for my collection. What editions do I pick?

Star Wars Original Trilogy

(6-disc edition, 2 for each movie - 1 for the movie and 1 for the special features)

Star Wars Trilogy Widescreen Edition with Bonus Disc

(4 disc edition, 1 for each movie and 1 bonus features)

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy[/u]

(6-disc edition, 2 for each movie - 1 for the movie and 1 for the special features)

Or the single releases of the prequels? Or I dunno!!

Someone can help?

none.

i'm so proud to say that i'm probably the only avid serious DVD collector who never bought any Star Wars box set because i refuse to be another victim of George Lucas/Fox money machine.i bought The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones years ago but i sold them.

iam waiting and i think you should wait too because there's going to be a super duper ultimate box set with all the movies,it was supposed to be released late 2007 but it was canceled due to the fact that the latest release at that time didn't sell as much as Fox hoped (ah tragedy)  Roll Eyes...it will probably be released when the live action series hit TV or when Lucas prepares the theatrical 3d versions of the sequels or maybe when he is dead in his grave writing the script for 7,8,9.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

But that means I might end up waiting for the next 10 years before I buy the series on DVD?

Ok, considering there is no definite (or even stipulated) release date for the super duper mega ultra DVD box set, what of the currectly released and available versions are best to compile for the complete series with special features?

Ah. Look for a DVD player that upscales. Do note that the maximum they can upscale to is 1080i, which is almost 720p quality. Also, the Western Digital media player (which retails for AED 399 at Sharaf DG) upscales your movie files to HD quality, not sure to what level exactly tho.

Sandeep, check today's Sharaf DG catalogue out...it's got a Philips DVD player that can upscale to 1080p (highly doubt it's P, I bet it's an I) for AED 279, Model no. DVP5990.

Ahem.

Lucasfilm is going to re-re-release the original trilogy in 3D. Official announcement has been made.

Expect the first one in 2012.

For you to kindly ignore:

Before re-releasing the entire series chronologically in digitally enhanced 3D (Phantom Menace comes first) starting in 2012, Lucas has re-re-re-released the movies for home video, this time on Blu-Ray:

9 Bluray discs with all 6 movies and 3 additional discs with more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more!

3 Bluray discs with Episodes IV, V & VI and never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and more!

3 Bluray discs with Episodes I, II & III and never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and more!
