They were all bad movies. Add Hitman, Chun Li, the upcoming Tekken, etc.

lolol dude you make laugh it sounds like it's so bad it's good.i bet there's a scene where Jake makes out with "the lady" with some weird "arab" music on the background..

Yes, there is. Isn't that like the money shot of every PG-13 film for 15 year olds in the audience the world over?

Gemma Arterton annoyed the Hell of me in Quantum of Solace so it comes as no surprise that you hated her here. But how would it fare as a video Game adaption? In another words: if I am to ask you to rank Silent Hills, Doom, Resident Evil and its sequels, Uwe Boll's films, and Prince of Persia, how would you rank them?

My tolerance for "shit tinted CGI" (as I like to call it) reduces with every film I see, so they are all, more or less, pretty crappy films, with the exception of the first Resident Evil, which I think rocked (surprisingly, considering how much I absolutely fucking hated the sequel). That is the only film on this list that I have liked. Never seen any Uwe Ball film, nor Doom for that matter. Thought Silent Hill was loud cacophony at best (my review or comments are somewhere here on this site I think). In retrospect, one of the few watchable game to film adaptations was also the first Tomb Raider film (but only just watchable).

Regarding Arterton - she has an annoying method of dialogue delivery that seems to be at least partially delivered from her nose. She has even less screen presence than her wooden American counterpart Katherine Heigl and all the makeup, glitter and henna couldn't convince me she was a princess and not a British upstart at a fancy dress costume.

Not true. Resident Evil and Silent Hill are good films. The others are not. The best of them, undoubtedly is Mortal Kombat.

I watched this movie with my brother, who is a game aficionado. He's played Sands of Time (and the other PoP games), and he liked the film too, especially many throwbacks to the game. From the way the dagger works, to the invasion of the first city, etc. Also, Prince Dastan thankfully uses the techniques of his digital counterpart throughout the film (and not just at the start).

So yes, it is a good adaptation of the game.

IMHO, Silent Hill was ok, Resident Evil 1 and 3 were ok, RE 2 was terrible and Mortal Kombat was really really bad. As bad as Chun Li perhaps. I never liked the PoP games (have the latest one, haven't installed it yet) anyway. I thought Far Cry was much better than most though, despite being Uwe Boll's.

Oh yeah I forgot about the Tomb Raider films, both of them I watched in the cinema. I watched the first in the US and there are a shot where Angelina Jolie was running while her boobs are bouncing up and down, I remember I whispered in the ears of my American friend: It should be illegal to run when you have those. That time I fell in love with Ms. Jolie. The second film, and I know I am in the minority here, but to me it was even better than the first. Alas it bombed and the franchise was killed.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

Way too long, too many stunts, and too much CGI make this film weak. Decent acting and action by Jake Gyllenhaal, confident foot forward by lead actress Gemma Arterton, make it ok to watch, but it would work best at home or on the flight.
