Well guys, I have a tough assignment for you, and I wanna know who's up to it,  here goes:

Time: I was 8 or 9 years old, around mid 80's.

Place: at my grandparents house I used to watch Bollywood flicks all the time.

Fragments of memory:  a film about two lovers (it always is) and an bad guy with his henchmen.
Hero sings to the heroin the most beautiful song.
Hero gets in conflict with bad guy.
Bad guy beats hero in a fight.
Hero get thrown from a mountain by bad guy and his henchmen.
Heroin watches in terror.
Heroin goes crazy.
Bad guy lets heroin live because she lost her mind and she can't tell
Hero didn't die
Hero sing to heroin the old song.
Heroin regains her sanity, but still pretend to be crazy so bad guy wouldn't know.
Hero kicks bad guy's ass and save village.
The End

Assignment: I don't know the name of the film. I don't know who played the hero nor the heroin. I don't know who played the villain. I don't know the characters names. I don't speak Hindi so I don't remember the lyrics of the song I love. I do know the melody of the song and I hum it all the time. So who would be my hero today and find for me the name of this Bollywood film. I will call him "Your Majesty" for a week.

This sounds familiar...the problem is, the old lady who pretends to be crazy has been used many times.

OK Ozzy pay attention please! It wasn't an old lady playing crazy, it was the heroin. Why do I have the feeling you are not gonna be called Your Majesty anytime soon?

Where's Shariq or Kaytee when you need them? I'm pretty sure I've seen this film (or the remake).

No idea at all. 80s was the worst decade in Bollywood cinema, and they churned out movies like mushrooms.

I'll check with "higher authorities" and report back later.

I know what you mean Shariqq, I myself had a complicated love/hate relationship with that era's film, mostly hate.
However, I am in it for the songs. The song I am talking about is just amazing! More than 20 years and I can't shake it of my head, I whistle it all the time I drive my wife crazy.
She is a Bollywood enthusiast herself, but she can't remember the film because she saw so many of them growing up. But I really wanna hear that song again, like REALLY wanna hear it!! So please get it for me please!

Maybe you should whistle-record the tune, and send it to us as a WAV or MP3.

ROTFL. This is so awesome, words fail me! lol

Come on, you Bollywood experts -- we must solve this mystery! That plot is so ridiculous it can only be the work of a genius.
