Yahoo's List of 100 Movies You Should See Before You Dies

Here's a link to Yahoo's List of 100 Movies You Should See Before You Dies. My first impression: Boy they love Steven Spielberg. On the list there is E.T., Jaws, Raiders of The Los Ark, Saving Private Ryan, and Schindler's List. 5% is a big chunk for 1 director. Hitchcock, Coppola, Kurosawa, and Kubrick got only 3, and Scorsese got only 2.
I know these lists are totally arbitrary, but they are interesting to look at nevertheless.

Anyway I thought I wanna take your opinion.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

no it's not about my list or your list.i'm saying it's time to stop all these cliches lists where they include overrated movies from the 60's or the 70's and consider more modern films too.i wouldn't recommend "Groundhog Day" or "Star Wars" to anyone before he dies and i can assure many moviegoers won't too.

I didn't ask you to list your choices from a specific time, I just asked you for your own personal list, as simple as that. You can put High School Musical for all what I care.
Those lists for me are good for two things:
1. stirring a conversation and giving people a chance to present their cases for the movie mentioned and whether they think they are masterpieces or overrated. Also they give a chance to the reader to put his/her own counter list.
2. Discovering unknown gems from whatever era, genre, or language.
That is my take on the matter.

how boring...i dunno why when you ask ppl their favorite movies, they right away go for the mainstream predicable cliched lists and mention The Godfather,Jaws and Pulp Fiction or whatever, when i ask you your favorite movies i expect you to mention YOUR favorite movies not some generic boring list of movies that everyone likes,i dunno..maybe i expect more from ppl, especially from a filmmaker like Frank Darabont.

Except for a couple of films - thats a pretty solid list
.
May I add, you seem to have a soft spot for these quirky, independent films about dysfunctional families or characters - Chumscrubber, You can count on me, East is East (and other films you've liked and spoken about elsewhere on the forum).
