Great Soundtracks, Average Movie
«
on:

I was never on the bandwagon of Daredevil bashers, in the contrary, I enjoyed it for what it was. I know it wasn't a great film, but it was a solid 3 stars film in my opinion.
However, what is still awesome about it is its music. The film is loaded with great soundtracks. Three of them are of my all time favorite: "My Immortals" and "Bring me to Life" by Evanescence, and "For You" by the Calling. There are also some good tracks by Fuel, Saliva, Revis, etc. So my question to you guys: do you have similar experience where you found the soundtracks awesome for otherwise a bad or an ok movie?

I thought Daredevil was a very respectable film. It's better than a lot of the garbage coming out today (like Iron Man) and the director's cut has more depth and base (and a lot more similarity to Miller's rugged writing from the 80's), though it loses some of its flow and entertainment value. I thought the soundtrack too was decent, not great, but decent.
Other average or shite films with great, great soundtracks are:
1) The Watchmen (classy stuff, if a bit obvious in terms of how they all mostly classics)
2) Gangs of New York (some of the best Howard Shore and an awesome track by Peter Gabriel).
3) City of Angels (zzzzz film, but the soundtrack tops, especially its haunting selection of Alanis Morisette and Sarah McLaughlin).
Others when I can think of it...

I still stand by my statement that I love the soundtracks and I think it was great. Evanescence's two songs are not only great songs, they are the best of this band. Whenever I hear My Immortal I immediately remember the simetary scene and have the urge to watch Daredevil. It only happen to me when I listen to a few soundtracks, like "May it be" for Enya ftom "LOTR: Felllowship of The Ring"which lost the Oscar for a silly song from "Monsters, inc.".

Another vote for the
City of Angels
OST. Ridiculous film; watch the masterful German original
Wings of Desire
instead. I believe Fizz has reviewed it already, check the search function.
Other bad films with great soundtracks:
Batman Forever
Elizabethtown
Marie Antoinette
Ofcourse, we haven't even touched actual *scores* by composers that far exceed the films...

you know before the movie came out and before even the soundtrack was released,by coincidence i was checking the Daredevil website and i rarely check official websites for movies.you could listen to the whole soundtrack on the website,i listened to "Bring me to Life" and i loved it.i downloaded it,later on i burnt it on CD and gave it to a friend.this was WEEKS if not months before the release of the movie.we would play it every time we hang out.
then the song became a hit! i honestly didn't expect it to be...everywhere we go,they would play it 24/7 until we hated it.

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

My experience was different, I wasn't so crazy about the song at first, it rather grew on me, until it became a favorite of mine. But my absolute favorite trak would be "My Immortal", I am crazy about the song. Also the track I mentioned earlier for the Calling "For You", it is really beautiful.

I'm with animated, while the X-files movie (part 1) was fantastic, the soundtrack was superb!

X-Files
OST!
I would've included
The Saint
OST, except I really like the film as well.
