This is a compilation in support of AIDS, and features a rather eclectic mix of artists and their eclectic music. I was very impressed with the quality of the tracks.

CD1: Sufjan Stevens, Kronos Quartet, David Byrne, Jose Gonzalez, Iron & Wine, Grizzly Bear. Can it get any better than this? Standout track honor goes to Stevens' You Are the Blood. On to CD2 then...

CD2: Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, Beirut, Spoon, Yo La Tengo, The New Pornographers. Dare I say better than CD1? Standout track: Beirut's Mimizan.

Dark Was the Night is, at the very least, a great primer for those not familiar with such inventive indie bands.

This is a compilation in support of AIDS....

You mean in support of the fight against AIDS or something...

Btw...nice tracks you linked, especially the zany, operatic, electronica of You are my blood...

Ha ha, must be a Freudian slip. You are the Blood is a cover of the old Castanets track, but its a glorious reinvention by Sufjan.

I am loving Dark Was the Night. Biggest surprise for me was how much I enjoy Antonys cover of I Was Young When I Left Home. Its an incredible CD. But it does seem kind of weird that theres no OR track on there: its like they were the only kid who didnt come to the birthday party.
