Has anyone seen this series. More like an X Files kind of thing. Created by J J Abrams of Lost.
Follows the exploits of good looking female FBI Agent, crazy scientist who was released after a long time in mental hospital, and his shady son  as they look at  fringe science (telepathy, levitation, reanimation, genetic mutation, psychokinesis, teleportation, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, precognition, cybernetics, suspended animation, etc). Also there a trillion dollar company in the middle which may be working with the government (THEY !!)

Fringe is one of my favorite new shows. It is one of the few shows that stroke the balance between serialized drama and stand alone case of the week. The effects are very good for a TV show. The story is building up nicely, and the main characters are interesting. Anna Torv the lead actress who plays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham often criticized for being wooden and off, but I beg to differ, because I think that her acting is very good. The role is for a woman who faces extremely emotional situations in her personal and professional life, but it is important to her to suppress those emotions and "tough it up", her pain is only conveyed by the look of her eyes, the eyes of a very hurt, sad and enraged woman. Joshua Jackson as Peter Bishop the very smart and shady character who is brought against his will t o babysit his estranged mad scientist of a father, only to discover that they can build relationship after years of abandonment. There is also the sexual tension between him and Olivia, which neither one of them is acknowledging. Joshua was not an actor whom I liked before, except in a small role he played in "Cruel Intensions" as the conniving gay friend of Ryan Philippe, but I must admit that he is great in this role. However the show stealer is John Noble, who played the crazed Lord Denethor in The Lord of The Rings, he also play the crazy genius scientist Dr. Walter Bishop, who brings a light breeze of smiles with his corky ways. Many shady scheming characters comes and go, some good people, turn up to be bad, only to turn up to be good again, and all these layers of complications that makes you in a state of wonder all the time, and yet you can leave the show at any time and come back a few episode later and enjoy the case of the week without bothering with the larger mythology of the show.
I must say, Fox may be a crappy film studio, but the stuff the have on their TV network is some of the best shows on TV: 24, Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe, House, Bone, etc. My only hope is that they continue making those entraining thought provoking shows.

Did anyone finish watching the whole season? The first few episodes were horrendous and I gave up. Did they bring something new to the table later on in the show?

I did finish it and I believe Ozzy did too. It picks up after the first episodes and goes to weird territories, not that the first were bad in my opinion, but it ends up with a kickass finale.

Totally agree with what Ayaa said, it's an excellent TV series. I can't find anything quite like it nowadays, can't wait for Season 3, it comes out in October I think Sad

And Season 2 has started...with an OK episode, but still enjoyable, and confusing as hell. Didn't spot The Observer though.
