By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

1) it depends on your configuration too. one of the ways of resolving this would be to re-install these applications and delete your temporary files, but as you say you've already formatted it once, it doesn't apply. maybe your pc's configuration can't support 'em

2) run chkdsk on your hard drives, in case there are bad sectors on 'em.

3) and you said it's a computer, so one of the main reasons of a system freezing would be over heating...have you kept it in a tight, dusty corner? does it have enough fans for circulation?

4) start the system in Safe Mode, and then run these applications, do they work or still hang? you won't hear anything, but it's just to see if the drivers were causing a problem.

cheers!

thanks for the info ozzy!

it's a laptop.i keep it in a fine room.i run chkdsk and i got this message "convert lost chains to files (y/n)" what sould i type?

and i don't know how to start the system in a safe mode.  Embarrassed

i think the reason to the freezing  is maybe because i downloaded many kinds of codes, like divx codes then K-lite...

well, codec's could be an issue. Try to uninstall all of them. And then just install one of the packs available. I use klitemegacodec pack, but i'm looking for something better at the moment. Also, update your video card drivers.
(windows update as well)

chkdsk -> click yes for the lost chain.

you could also run "System File Checker" from a command window
1) Start > Run > type "cmd" and press enter
2) In the black dos box, type "sfc /scannow"

NOTE you will need your WinXP cd handy.

to run in Safe Mode, restart the laptop and press F8 when it asks you for advanced startup options, and choose Safe Mode
