Look at life and films, differently...

2012 starts off like a video game but becomes better towards the middle. The catastrophe is brilliantly shown, but the cheesy stock plots and dialogues make it annoying. A bit long at 155 minutes, it could have been shorter, but is worth one watch on the big screen.
p.s. I don't know if watching it on digital instead of a normal screen makes any difference at reel cinemas, where I saw it.

2012 is not a great film, it is probably not a good film, but it entertaining like hell. If you wanna watch a cheesy story, calculated dialogue uttered by really good actors who showed up after a truck full of cash emptied its load on their loans, then you should go see that film. Really ridiculous story, the ultimate cliché of all. Emmerich is one cunning SOB who knows what he is doing, his motto is always a famous Joseph Stalin quote: "The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic", so he establish our connection with the protagonist and his family, and let us care so much about the likeable dude, and invest in his survival. So suddenly the death of billions of people doesn't matter as long as our beloved hero can safe his family, and before I forget, the dog will make it as well.

Anyway, phenomenal creative work on destroying Earth, I would have been scared shitless has it been anything else but a Roland Emmerich vehicle, he is just so playful and winks at us all the time that you'll have to be stupid to take it too seriously. I would give it 3/5.

"There's this whole school of thought that movies are always so great when you're 10 or 12 years old, and the reality of it is, when you're 10 or 12 years old, you've only seen 100 stories. By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher

I watched it and found it terrible. It was just bad overall, with no redeeming aspects whatsoever. 2/5

I know most of you guys are in aww about this movie's graphics, but I found this movie to be absolute garbage, no story, no plot and way too long, the less said about the movie the better. My rating --> 1/5

That's all the movie has. Good special effects. Nothing else. Much like Avatar.
