Yes - I mostly had heard negative about this movie, by friends who saw it, hence I knew it wasn't even a popcorn fare. But was hoping to watch it nevertheless for Tarsem's sake, assuming it would have splendid visuals.

I'll watch it at Kaytee's Film Festival later.

I watched it on 3D, I frankly liked the visuals. I found then interesting. However, the story, dialogue, and Frida Pento were cringeworthy. 3D was enjoyable, and Henry Cavill the new Superman is promising. Mickey Rourke is a formidable vilian. I would give it 3/5

What film isn't Pinto cringeworthy in? And Rourke was frankly chewing scenery. Let me give you an example of how bad the visuals were - the scene where the traitor from the village meets Rourke's King for the first time, you couldn't even see where Rourke was on the screen, it was that underlit. This wasn't to add drama or intrigue - it was shoddy CGI work. And all those silly repeat shots of the village next to the water, my eyes were rolling everytime the camera pulled back to give us a view of how neat it all looked. I didn't expect Tarsem to fall victim to the overuse of special effects. Frankly, the visuals were just as weak as the film, nothing organic about them at all.

Narrative is the poison of cinema...There’s nothing more beautiful than elusiveness in cinema.

Empire can go fuck themselves. This qualifies as one of the worst cinema experiences of the year for me

Transformers 3 has competition.

It worked for me. I don't have the observant eyes that you have Fizz, but generally I was fairly satisfied, especially with the 3D. It was very stylish, fittingly so, and it had the visual quirkiness that we came to expect from Tarsam. As a whole the film does not work on all levels, and there are things about the visual themselves that were really bad. Like the final battle between the "Gods" and the Titans, which was atrocious. Started with a few of them descending from the sky and magically they became so many, and it looks as if each one of them died several times, and they were not that distinguishable to begin with. I admit that if I keep thinking about it or rewatch it, I'd probably  end up in your side of this argument. But coming out of theater, I had a fairly pleasant time.

Even though the majority think this film is an artistic flop from Tarsam, although it did well at the box office, I am now really looking forward for his next outing, next year's Snow White's remake Mirror, Mirror with Julia Roberts as the evil queen.
