TEJA mein hoon, Mark idhar hai !!

« on: November 06, 2008, 09:17:AM »

Guess someone like what Tarsem Singh did with The Fall. His next is called War of the Gods which stars Henry Cavill from The Tudors and the fantasy centers on the ancient Greek epic of Theseus, the mythical king of Athens who slayed the Minotaur.

The bad news is the visual effects will be accomplished using the greenscreen techniques that made 300 so visually arresting.

Why is that bad news?

p.s.: I've changed the director's credit on the thread to "Tarsem", as he professionally goes by his first name only.

What coincidence: Shariq and I were just talking about Tarsem, and the (very remote) possibility of "The Fall" playing at DIFF!

I remember my Greek mythology enough to expect a monster/action/tragedy movie from this. What's interesting to see will be how the portions apart from the Labyrinth-story are fleshed out by Tarsem's crew. The trip to Crete and back were relatively uneventful but can make for great innovation (a gorgon?).

Variety says that Henry Cavill is in talks to play Theseus - he certainly looks the part (image below). I suggest Andy Serkis for the Minotour!

This is an incredible part of Greek mythology. It makes perfect commercial sense to go with the heroism of Theseus arc, but if I were developing it, I'd make the center of my film the story about Minotaur and his birth: how his mother, the beautiful human wife of King Minos, had a wooden cow made so she could have sex with the Cretan Bull in the labyrinth, thus giving birth to...MINOTAUR!!!

It's OK: you can admit to yourself that my movie would kick Tarsem in the nuts!

No AK, that would only achieve what Stone Alexander did!  Smiley

Interestingly, even Icarus' story (first winged flight!) extends from this myth - his father having built the labyrinth for the Minotaur, and they (father and son) being imprisoned by King Minos for their ingenuity.

No, no, it's going to be beautiful:

ACT 1: King Minos asks Poseidon to help him out by sending a white bull, which he does. Minos keeps the bull and Poseidon is pissed. Daedalus and Icarus are introduced, primarily for future sequels or spinoff reasons.

ACT 2: Poseidon makes Pasiphae fall madly in love with the Cretan Bull. Daedalus builds the wooden cow. Pasiphae has hot NC-17 sex with the beast. Minotaur is borne. The world is repelled and fascinated by him.

ACT 3: Minotaur is an adult now. His mother is dead. He wants to be loved, but no woman can handle his big dick! Plus he eats them after sex, so the relationship ends right there! Minotaur struggles with his beast and human side. After he hears that Theseus is coming to kill him, the human side welcomes it, while the animal in him is excited for a good fight! <Insert long, surrealistic monologue between the two halves> In the last scene, we will only see the back of Theseus facing off the huge Minotaur. There is a tight close-up of Minotaur's eyes which betray a glint of humanity, then black screen, and a loud animalistic roar. Credits.

Yep, I am ready to roll in ca$h and accept my Razzies!

LOL!! Good summary! I know I would pay to watch it - but in Dubai, so the NC-17 part is censored off.

After he hears that Theseus is coming to kill him, the human side welcomes it, while the animal in him is excited for a good fight! <Insert long, surrealistic monologue between the two halves>

I suggest Andy Serkis for the Minotour!

Make sense now?

!

this is like 300 sequel or 300 rip off...the average joe will think this is a sequel to 300.However, given the director is Tarsem, it's either really good or he wants to make money this time..

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher
