The Whitest Kids U Know (2007-2008)IMDB LinkI’m not a huge fan of skits and “The Whitest Kids U’ Know” is not a huge exception to that. It tries to be shocking and edgy, and a lot of times it fails.
But when it works, it works. The main problem is that the comedy troupe has a major lack of equal talent. Out of the cast of five different comedians, Tyler Moore is the only one that seemed to have any major talent, and the good news is that he takes the lead on most of the skits. But someone like him needs more people like him to be able to make the show more memorable and with less frequent misses.
I found the show to be better in its second season. This could be either just because I got more used to the troupe’s humor, which usually happens. Or that the people involved were more experienced and were able to more fine tune their show. The film-making is better (it looks extremely cheap in the first season) and the comedians are to have a better understanding of comic timing.
Some of my favorite segments are the songs. There are songs which sound a bit stupid and easy, but actually Tyler Moore makes it both lyrically funny and musically fun to listen to. Like “The Hitler Rap” with lyrics such as “Cause I stopped burnin' people, started burnin' CD's / Stopped battlin' the world, started battlin' MC's / Just started bustin' rhymes, finally found my groove / And now the "S.S" on my jacket stands for "Super Smooth"”
Not excellent, but great at times nonetheless, and I’d be interested where it takes Tyler Moore.
