My secret wish may not have been fulfilled in front of the camera, but it definitely happened behind it.

Given the timing, there's a part of me that thinks this is a clever marketing tactic to drum up even more interest in the new season. And why would people be even remotely interested in an incestuous relationship? Answer: Ask Mr. Internet.

S3 begins Sept 28.

Quote from: IMDb
Dexter Siblings Date In Real Life

Dexter star Michael C. Hall is secretly dating his onscreen sister Jennifer Carpenter, despite the disapproval of their TV bosses.

The pair plays siblings Dexter and Debra Morgan in the hit series, about a cop who secretly murders serial killers.

And, according to the National Enquirer, Hall and Carpenter are an odd item in real life. They've been dating for almost a year, after Hall separated from his wife Amy Spangler.

The couple has even moved in together, angering bosses at U.S. cable network Showtime, who fear the romance will confuse fans of the show.

A source says, "For months they tried to keep the romance a secret by going to out-of-the-way places and avoiding each other on the set. They still refuse to acknowledge they're in a relationship, but everyone on the set knows they're together."

I just finished the first episode from Season 3, and found it to be...boring.

Dexter is having the same problems: mainly, getting over his father, "Harry's code." Haven't we been through two seasons of this already? There are other distractions such as Jimmy Smith's new character, city of Miami's chief prosecutor, who becomes involved after Dexter is forced to kill his junkie brother in self-defense. This seems to be the show's plot motivation: will Jimmy find out Dex is the murderer, and hunt him down? I couldn't fucking care less...

In a word: dull.

Dexter: Season 01-03 (Showtime, 2006-2008)
IMDB Link

“Dexter” is a brilliant show about the unlikeliest of protagonist. Dexter works as a blood specialist in a crime team in Miami. He is polite, is good at his job, and is liked by people that surround him. There is only one problem. He enjoys killing people.

“But for me sex never enters into it. I don't understand sex. Not that I have anything against women, and I certainly have an appropriate sensibility about men. But when it comes to the actual act of sex, it's always just seemed so undignified.”

Dexter has been able to hide his psychopathic tendencies behind a mask of normality. And although he isn’t able to completely do away with his urges, he at least has been able to control them, and direct them towards only killing people he considers as bad people. Anyone that is investigated by the police, but the courts (for whatever reason) does not imprison him, Dexter takes it upon himself to kill him. This is not because Dexter is a vigilante, but only that he can not control his urges to kill people, but at least has been able to only target bad people. Still, Dexter enjoys the act. He does it with patience and the murder itself is done with care and love.

“Needless to say I have some unusual habits, yet all these socially acceptable people can't wait to pick up hammers and publicly smash their food to bits. Normal people are so hostile.”

The first season is by far the best. Dexter tries to understand himself a little bit more as he juggles work, family, girlfriend, and his urges to kill. The first season ended the only way it could have ended, and if the show did not get a second season, it would have been a fascinating and almost perfect show.  5/5

The second season has some changes with Dexter’s personality. He tries to move away from his urges and try to be an actual normal person, but it is not as easy as it appears. There are some weak episodes in this season, but the last few episodes are Dexter at its finest.  4/5

The third season loses much of the appeal of Dexter. He now does not seem to be a psychopath with no emotion that only pretends to be a normal person. He has turned into your average working guy with a loving family who just happens to be a vigilante too. The third season is really awful. It has Dexter being buddy with a new character, which is probably one of the worst characters ever written. And then you have episodes that deal with Dexter and Rita's pregnancy, Dexter proposing to Rita, etc. Also, the directing is awful, Dexter has visions of his father talking to him, and now Harry is Dexter's imaginary annoying guy. These scenes have a blurry layer, because hey, it’s not real, so it has to be blurry.

The actress who plays Debra has always been bad in the show, but in Season 3, it seems her badness just shines. It is actually painful to watch her act. 2/5

The show seems to digress as it goes along. The best thing about Dexter in season 1 was that he was a scary person. He was likable, but I am sure a lot of us were a bit confused about liking him. He was fucking crazy! But as the show went on, Dexter become more and more normal, so the dilemma of liking him was not there anymore. Also, the major major flaw with the show is that while Dexter himself is great, everyone else since Season 1 suck. It is kind of incredible how interesting Dexter is but every single person on the show is fucking annoying.

“My sister puts up a front so people won't know how vulnerable she really is. Me? I put up a front so people won't know how vulnerable I'm not.”

...and you review of 4/5 for season 2 seems quite higher as compared to as much as I saw. But since you said it ends well, I'll try to complete that season. I'll stay away from 3 for sure.

Dexter is a brilliant show, and Michael C. Hall is just perfect. Coming from 6 Feet Under, he could not have landed a better role. He now perfected two awesome charcters that couldn't be more different. But you know what else I love about Dexter, it has the best intro for any show ever. If you don't follow Dexter, please watch and judge:

Well Rita (Julie Benz), his fiancee and then wife, was pregnant with Dexter's baby last season, so I guess that he becomes a daddy in forthcoming season 4.

Oh no. This sounds so lame. I am glad I stopped mid-way through Season-2.
