This was a 4 episode documentary released by Adam Curtis in 2002 and focuses on the influence of freudian theories from the time of the industrial revolution and how public relations, modern advertising and consumerism ultimately shaped the world we live in today. Each episode last an hour and focuses on the major events of a decade or two, going in a time line from the twenties till today - examining the links between the strategies corporations took to sell to nations, and the events that occurred in the world.
This has easily been one of the most intelligent documentaries I have ever seen till now. It gives you an understanding of how the world we know today came to be, how many of our own psychological tenancies originated, and makes you ask some very pertinent questions about what the hell we humans are ending up doing to ourselves with our greed.
Absolutely brilliant.
