Fizz is going to flip out.
Quote from:
Austin American-Statesman
After weeks of rumors and speculation, the location manager of "Tree of Life," the Terrence Malick project starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, addressed the Smithville City Council on Tuesday to talk about filming there, beginning in late March. The shoot will last approximately three months, the film's John Patterson said.
"Security is going to be a big issue" with the film company, said Smithville City Manager Tex Middlebrook, who added that producers have met with the Police Department several times. Many of the cast and crew members for the film, a 1950s period piece, have rented houses in Smithville, a town of about 4,000 people 45 miles east of Austin.

Fantastic...I've been following this like a religion. I would have been happier had this been filmed, as was the original intent, in India. The setting and the subject matter would be fitting. Most of all, I'm just glad this is actually happening. We won't get to see it here till sometime in 2010 (judging by how late his previous feature was released), but it just gives me that much longer to wait in anticipation.

As with "The New World," this is being shot by Emmanuel Lubezki and on 65mm.

Jessica Chastain
has been cast opposite Brad Pitt in the drama "Tree of Life," written and directed by Terrence Malick.
River Road is financing the pic, which began shooting recently in Texas. Bill Pohlad is producing with Sarah Green ("The New World") and Grant Hill.
The story concerns the loss of innocence as seen through the eyes of the son of the characters portrayed by Pitt and Chastain. Sean Penn appears in a supporting role.
Pitt replaced the late Heath Ledger in the starring role.

"We're just starting work on a project for Terrence Malick, animating dinosaurs, the film is The Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.
It'll be showing in IMAX -- so the dinosaurs will actually be life size -- and the shots of the creatures will be long and lingering."
-- from an Empire magazine interview with VFX artist Mike Fink
dinosaurs? IMAX? huh?

By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

There's something off-putting about learning of the use of CGI in a Malick film, but I'll hold on to any opinion till the I've seen the film (yay, something to look forward to in life).

We have a poster for this long awaited movie. I dont know why they had to photoshop that cabin on the right, the poster was perfect without that.

It is attached to the LA prints of BLACK SWAN; there were gasps from the audience when it played. And after the torturous experience of Aronofsky's latest, I felt a little bit better about paying for the full ticket.

That trailer is simply breathtaking! Either it's the visuals of the movie itself, or the 1080p quality trailer on my 22" widescreen LED monitor. I'm suspecting it's the former.
