Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Pilot)
(David Nutter, 2008)

OK, this is a waste of time, because although it is not exactly disastrous, the show cannot escape the pedigree of Cameron's "Terminator" movies, especially the sequel.

The pilot is directed by David Nutter, famous for his work on THE X-FILES and a bunch of other great shows. But here, he and show writer Josh Friedman seem to have resigned themselves to paying homage to every line, every characteristic of "T2." For example: when Summer Glau, who is playing the female Arnie saves John Connor for the first time, she says, "Come with me if you want to live." Except it's not Arnie, and Glau fucks up the line.

Then there's the big villain, the evil robot...and the actor they've chosen for the role not only looks like Robert Patrick's T-1000, but he imitates his every manner: he runs like him, he grimaces like him, he even falls like him! If that wasn't enough, there's a scene of this guy repairing a personal injury -- and it's set to loud rock music because, dude, this is a hip show, and even the evil robot gets to be cool. Hilarious.

Watching this mediocre show will make you appreciate the simplicity, power and genius of James Cameron's films even more. TERMINATOR: SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES is a blatant cash-in; a tactic to milk the franchise cow before the new Terminator movies hit the big screen.

But if there's one saving grace in the show, then it is Lena Headey, who plays Sarah Connor -- she is mad fucking hot. She makes me wish John Connor was my best friend so I could have an excuse to hang out at their place!

I'd watch this if it included a steamy, oily, lesbian scene between Sarah Connor and the female terminator - spanning a few episodes (starting with the pilot, preferably.)

Hahaha! Thanks for the tip, KT. I've seen random episodes of The L-Word. However, it didn't include any human-machine "interface".

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a show on Fox. It is in its 2nd season run already. Unfortunately it is unlikely it will come back for a 3d due to it is low viewers number. The First season was a condensed small one, it only has 9 episodes, it started up slowly but it picked up very well in the middle, leading to one of the most beautiful, and I may say lyrical, final scene in season 1 finale, which was shoot out in a motel. It played like a movie set-piece, and I urge you all to see that episode just for that scene.
It's staring Lena Heady (Queen Gorgo, 300) as Sarah Connor, Thomas Deckker (Zach, Heroes 1st season) playing John Connor, Summer Glau (River, Serenity) playing Cameron the good Terminator who's protecting John, and Garret Dillahunt (Deputy Wendell, No Country for Old Men) who plays Cromartie the bad Terminator who's hunting John.
The show is concentrating on the everyday life of the Connors who are in the run from the Government and Skynet. It picks up shortly after the events of Terminator2, so Terminator3 Rise of The Machine events doesn't exist in the series universe, but shortly after that the Connors, Cameron, and Cromartie are transported thru time to our present time. Now they do their best to avoid capture, meanwhile, they work very hard trying to stop Skynet form taking over the world with all available means. They take their leads and assistance by following the commands of future's John instructions, and the people and clues that he send to them from time to time.
I must say the show focuses on the drama more than the action. The story is building up very nicely and you can't help it not to get attached to the characters. It also introduces Derek Reese John's uncle who is played by Brian Austen Green, Richard T. John's who played agent James Allison who's in the Connor's trail at first then he faces what give him a new prospective, and Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage, who fittingly plays a T-1001 liquid metal Terminator in disguise as the Head of Tech company determine to bring Skynet to live.
I can't really recommend the show hard enough. I is now in it is 14th episode of its 2nd season, and as I mentioned before, we'll be lucky if Fox would keep it till the end of this season, so we can have a nice wrap up to the story. I will keep my fingers crossed, but I am not holding my breath over that.
