Freeway (Bright, 1996)
IMDB Link

"Them are some mighty big fuckin' teeth ya got there, Bob."

I like modern retelling of old fairy-tale stories, even though they usually suck. Because you can’t really do much with them, even though it might sound fun at first. Like, take “Little Red Riding Hood”. The movie “Freeway” is an adult, modern version of it. In this version, the girl is a sexually-molested, trailer-trash, illiterate teenager called Vanessa (Reese Whiterspoon) and the wolf is a psychotic, serial killer (Kiefer Sutherland). The girl’s parents are arrested by the police, so she decides to go stay with her grandmother in another city, and encounters the serial killer and other adventures on the way.

I don’t even know why they even try to have a twisted version of “Little Red Riding Hood” because a version like this is not even that close to the original story, so what’s the point, aside from people like me mentioning it when they discuss the movie.

The whole movie is a bit fucked up, and I’m sure there are a few people here and there who consider this their cult favorite, but stick to the original versions. More tension.

My middle school geography teacher had similar gold-frame, pink-tinted, sex offender shades. This was back in '83, though, and he looked nothing like Sutherland - more like Steven Wright on a bad hair day.

I'm sure you can pick up a pair for a handful of Dhs from some Karama corner shop.
