Bully
Subversive, unglamorous film about high school revenge. Nothing smart about the script or the directorial craft of
Larry Clark
, yet the end result is an effective drama about teen alienation, pent up agnst and the ills of broken friendships. The characters are either always having sex or high on their drug of choice but with shades of Macbeth thrown in, the movie dives into terrifyingly dark territory. Decent cast includes Brad Renfro as the repressed Marty whose girlfriend Lisa (Rachel Miner) plants the seeds of murdering his bullying, violent best friend (Nick Stahl). They are joined in this endevour by a stoned Michael Pitt and Bijou Philips. Based on a book about a true story.

"There's this whole school of thought that movies are always so great when you're 10 or 12 years old, and the reality of it is, when you're 10 or 12 years old, you've only seen 100 stories. By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting."

Just finished watching it. Very disturbing, and for the most part well acted.
Nick Stahl
as the psychopathic bully is the best of the bunch. I always the liked him, but he is terrific here. The film is shocking and has load of sex and nudity. Those are fitting in such a story, but it seemed too much and exploitative, especially near the end. I liked how grainy the film looks, and even though the tone of the film is dark, but it is has some dark humor. Over all, very interesting teen drama, that is worth watching and discussing.

You must have watched it when you were still a pimple-faced teen, cause there is not even a shred of erotica in this film, never mind the wall to wall nudity and sex.
