I came across this 2nd hand book store in Jumeirah Plaza, right next to Markaz Jumeirah, and they have a good collection of books at half the price. The really neat bit is that you get 50% back on the price you paid if you return a book you borrow from them, and they also buy books.

I'll post their number soon, but it's hard not to miss them as they're in the double storey 11 year old shopping mall before Beach Center in Jumeirah, right opposite the Open Beach.

My favorite second hand book is Satwa, near Lulu Hypermarket. Its called World Book or something. A very small, low key bookstore, that has books at dirt cheap prices, and it has a very friendly staff. I once met the (Indian) manager, who was exactly like the kind of second hand book shop managers you read about, but never actually see in Dubai. He talked about how he has two branches, and they dont make much money, but doesnt really care, because he is fine as long as he breaks even.
