DVD review... 10 deleted scenes... 2 of them deserve special  mention:

In 'Death of Maham Anga', Ila Arun's frail voice reeks of powerful honesty. Her cinematic death is so realistic that it leaves you open mouthed, wondering why this giant of an actress isn't seen on celluloid often.

Another notable deleted scene is 'Mahesh Das is also known as…?' This introduces you to the supremely clever Birbal. In fact you don't get to see his famous wit in the film at all. The conscientious commoner makes Akbar aware about the practice of bribery prevalent in the kingdom. But the clownish minister in the 'durbar' could have been done away with, as it merely adds to the stereotype.

I really have issues with all this hoopla that is Filmfare.

Take this years results which Sandeep posted. Jodhaa Akbar looked stunning, art direction and all the technical aspects were great. But it was long and boring as hell.

I don't know why in the world would Aishwarya Rai be the international star of the year, may be for Pink Panther2? What worst is making her the star of the decade. At least Shahroukh, love him or hate him, has the resume to back it up. Aishwarya Rai may be the celebrity of the decade, just like Paris Hilton, but she is in no way that good of an actress to be crowned with such a title.

Either or. All awards for Bollywood are equally pathetic, no merit at all to them.

Regarding International Star, there is only one person even worthy of  nomination (and win): Irrfan Khan.

While he has the caliber, his latest work doesn't reflect that. Even if you're looking at <sigh> "international star of the decade", the last movie he did outside Indian cinema was charlie wilson's war in 2007... and I can't seem to find many others in the last ten years.
