.45 (Lennon, 2006)IMDB LinkA director’s first movie is sometimes like a guy’s first fuck. He just rushes in too fast, tries to do everything, does nothing, and comes too fast. This is what the movie felt like. The director puts in everything in the movie and goes from one style to another, and after a while, you realize that you are just watching a mess. It starts off as a gangster movie, then suddenly becomes a melodramatic abused wife saga, and ends with a femme fatal kind of a movie. All the time, with “documentary” scenes with random characters talking about the main two characters.
This is how the movie starts. A close up of Milla Jovovich talking to the camera. “Big Al has a huge cock. I’m serious, I’m not fucking with you. Thing is humongous, okay, its like..it looks like it got little arms and legs and shit…it looks alive…” and so on. You know, I think we’re done with the 90s Tarantino-wannabe dialogues. Is anyone interested in dialogue like this anymore? It seems the screenwriter somehow constantly feels that such language is both cutting edge and STREET.
Milla Jovovich does make out with a girl, but enough for the game to be worth it.
