I would say that this season of 24 is way better than the last. 7 hours down so far of gripping drama and action. I think the long hiatus worked for them very well. Anyway I don't want to jinx it, they have plenty of time to screw it royally.

I have seen till Episode 10 and so far its pretty darn average.

Wasnt it but obvious who the mole in the FBI was? Jack is not ruthless enough this season, he has gone soft.

I stopped with episode #6 for lack of time, but primarily because there was nothing to compel me to make time for more episodes. As Kaytee surmised, it's pretty darn average.

Jack going soft has to do with the policies of accountability of the new US government. When Bush was around, Jack would torture. Now Jack is himself tortured.

If you are a fan of 24 then you have to admit that it so much better than the previous seasons. However if it is not your cup of tea then that is a whole different story.
For me the most interesting arch, which as far as I know was never presented on 24, is what happens between Jack and FBI agent Walker. She watches how is the sausage in Bauer's  world made and she is disgusted with what she sees, yet she knows someone has to do it, and indeed she goes against herself twice and do the despicable acts that she hates because she doesn't have much of choice. Meanwhile Jack became a hollow of a man consumed by the ghosts of the past, you can see that on him, the burden of previous years, yet he is alone, nobody wanna touch him and everybody needs him. These paradoxes is what makes 24 season 7 is way more compelling than previous seasons.
As for the bored ones of you, I promise you that episode 11 and 12 absolutely deliver!!!! There will be torture, there will be B-movies action, and there will be blood. There is also a certain slap on the face that never been shown before

So it has been 13 "hours" and counting, and it is still great. My fear, and I hope I will be proving wrong, is that it will be going downward from there because now the bad guy that is left is the Old White American, and we now how did that turned out in the last season. Although Jon Voight has his "Anaconda" face and tone, it is AWESOME!!  The good part, Jack is out there all commando trying to bust that conspiracy while the FBI wants him to leave the crisis to them to handle it "their way". My biggest complain so far, not enough Chloe O'Brian..
